As a leading voice for sturgeon conservation, SeaWeb raises awareness about threats to the endangered Caspian Sea sturgeon species and has successfully achieved stronger trade controls on wild Caspian caviar, culminating in a ban on global trade of all wild caviar. The public education campaigns in the United States and Europe envision a growing market for sustainable, farmed caviars that will provide relief to endangered wild sturgeon, ultimately preventing extinction of the species.
The campaign is active in those regions of the world with the highest consumer demand for caviar. For information on SeaWeb’s work in the United States, see www.caviaremptor.org. For information on our work in Western Europe, see www.seaweb.fr (en français).
