The tropical IndoPacific contains an unparalleled diversity of marine life. Local communities rely on these resources for everything from deep-routed traditions to daily sustenance. Perhaps more than in anywhere else, their quality of life directly depends on a healthy ocean.
In the challenging economic reality of the region, we are working to transform the way societies and opinion leaders think about their marine resources.
We believe that the success of ocean conservation depends on how well its science is shared. SeaWeb’s Asia Pacific Program is dedicated to enhancing the communications skills of local ocean experts, encouraging media coverage of regional ocean issues and creating a climate that prioritizes ocean protection. We work to amplify and clarify the voices of scientists and ocean experts, so that their critical knowledge may be brought into the public sphere.
