SeaWeb Supports UK Retailer Selfridges' Project Ocean

Project Ocean Chef Demo

SeaWeb is pleased to announce its participation in Project Ocean, an ambitious public awareness campaign created by Selfridges and Zoological Society of London to champion marine conservation. We are thrilled to lend our voice as one of 22 NGOs supporting the cause that celebrates the beauty of the ocean, highlights concerns about its conservation and focuses on the issue of overfishing in our seas. Project Ocean is yet another way SeaWeb seeks to change behaviour and mind-sets about marine conservation, an issue we can no longer afford to ignore.

From 11 May – 12 June 2011, Selfridges is partnering with more than 20 environmental and conservation groups to celebrate the beauty of the ocean, highlight the issue of over-fishing, help us all understand the threats to the ocean and make positive choices about the right fish to buy and eat. Selfridge's does not sell any endangered fish in their Foodhall or restaurants! They've also created the pocket-sized Selfridges Fish Guide which will tell customers which fish are endangered, and which fish to eat instead in favourite recipes or restaurants.
