Pledge to Save Coral

Corals around the world are under threat from climate change, pollution, overfishing and consumer demand. Red and pink coral are among the most valuable and widely traded of all coral species yet the least protected.

I pledge to do my part to protect these precious natural resources by refusing to purchase any product made of real coral, including jewelry and home décor items.

I also support strong legislation to protect corals, including:

• The reauthorization of the U.S. Coral Reef Conservation Act and,
• An Appendix II listing for red and pink coral under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). This listing would provide much-needed monitoring and oversight to the currently unregulated red coral trade.

These protections for corals will help safeguard them for future generations.
